This year the rituals of shopping for supplies on the back to School list just wasn't possible for a valley mom.

Deb Hardy works full time to take care of her two kids, but finances are tighter than ever.

"I pay more in taxes, pay more in insurance, gas is still up, it doesn't leave enough," said Hardy.

So last week the family turned to the crowd funding  hoping to raise $1,000 for school supplies and fees for 9-year-old Beth and 12-year-old Ben.

"I call it the hail mary, it was the last thing we thought of, something to make it work," she said.

Other crowd funding campaigns have shocked the family.

"We were kind of frustrated hearing about guys getting $55,000 for potato salad, and my kids are going that cost $5 mom, so it was worth a shot," said Hardy.

So far the website has garnered the family over $400 in donations on the website. Hardy says she doesn't feel embarrassed, but rather blessed to have friends and strangers help send her kids back to school with the tools they need.

"And also I'm not alone, there is a lot of single moms like myself, I just came up with the idea. There's in this valley alone 10,000 moms in the same spot," said Hardy.
