The purpose of the pilot campaign is to explore crowdfunding as a way to supplement traditional funding tools. “A Day of Play” was used as an opportunity for residents to enjoy an
afternoon of family activities and give their input on what amenities could be added to the park. The ideas generated during the event will be evaluated so that a scope of work for the
park can be developed and funded. “What we are doing out here is collecting feedback from residents of the Tusseyview neighborhood and people who like to use the park. We are asking
them what they do in the park so that we can get some ideas of what they would like to be a part of this project,” said State College Borough planner Megan Tuttle. “It is very important.
We use the park system a lot. I live right next to a park in State College so it is a daily use for me and my daughter,” said State College resident Rob Daniels. The crowdfunding campaign will be open for donations early in
2015. Until then, Borough staff and the community will be working on collecting ideas for the park and developing ideas.
