FLINT, MI -- They were looking for $15,000.

Then they got it. Then they kept going.

Tenacity Brewing, which is planned to open by the end of this year, recently went to the crowdfunding site Kickstarter looking to raise funds to finish the construction on its tap room.

It will be Flint's only brewery when completed and is located on Grand Traverse Street, just north of the Flint River, near downtown.

A few days before their deadline, the brewery hit its goal. Kickstarter campaigns give all the money pledged online to their participants, and when they hit their goal, people weren't done pledging.

By the their end date, Oct. 19, 151 backers had pledged to give $21,406.

One of the brewery's partners, Jason Caya, said the extra money will go toward putting a pizza oven in the business.
