Forest Lake seeks crowdfunding for dog park

The city of Forest Lake is trying a new approach for a new park: crowdfunding.

The city's planned dog park, Ranger's Romp, is featured on the site, a spot it landed through a competitive process via the National Recreation and Park Association.

The fundraising goal is $30,000, according to a news release from park and recreation coordinator Nicole Schossow.

City officials have been exploring the idea of an off-leash dog park since a group of residents petitioned for one a few years ago. Bixby Park was eyed as a site but was determined to have too much water-covered land.

Ranger's Romp is now slated to be just north of the Washington County Service Center off Forest Road.

Money raised through the online campaign will be used for a fence and trails in and around the park.

To make a donation, go to and search for "Ranger's Romp."
