Earlier this month, Com1 launched a crowdfunding campaing on Indiegogo to raise funds for its “first Android Wear” smartwatch. The plan was for the watch to be sold for a price of $125 ($175 for the stainless steel or aluminum), the project wanted to raise $75,000.

Com 1Oddly, the campaign appeared to randomly vanished from the crowdfunding platform. But then Com1 announced the project is battling with internet search giant, Google, over copyrights.

On Monday (September 22nd), the Com1 team wrote, “So, as of a few hours ago, we have an issue. Google has filed a copyright suit, we are currently in the process of find out for what exactly so we have had to pause the campaign while we sort this out.”

“I’m currently on my phone and will be back at my computer shortly to post the email we got from them, we want to be fully transparent with everyone, as we are shocked by this. With the exception of todays hic up, our timeline is still ok, for when we get this issue resolved.”

On Tuesday (September 23rd), the team shared an update about the situation, and revealed a letter from apparently Indiegogo that stated the following:

According to Android Headlines, the Com1 Android Wear smartwatch was set to be priced at $125, and will go up to $170 if the user decides to purchase a stainless steel or aluminum housing and watch strap. The watch’s features include:

  • An Ingenic JZ4775 XBurst processor clocked at 1Ghz along with 375MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage
  • Squared-shaped
  • Comes with IP67 rating for water and dust resistance
  • 1.6-inch 320 x 320 display is located at the front with 400mAh battery being stored inside the watch

Just before the campaign was shut down, it had raised $30,000.
