A girl is met with a tragic car accident and wakes up in the hospital to realise her limbs are replaced with bionic prosthetics.

About this project

This 10 minute film is an adaptation of a published Norwegian short story (named, Den Bioniske Jenta) The film revolves around a 17-year-old girl named Charlotte who meets with a tragic car accident, and wakes up in the hospital to realise that her arm and leg have been replaced by bionic prosthetics. It is essentially about how she deals with the challenges of having the new body parts and how her peers' attitudes are changing towards her.

Genre – Drama with science fiction undertones.

If no major problems occur this is our plan.

1. We plan to send the film across various film festivals in UK and Norway.

2. The film is to be shot in Ultra HD and delivered in HD with 5.1 surround sound.

3. Be a film that really moves people.

4. Props that are believable.

The main crew members are 8 final year students of BA (Hons) Film and TV at the University of Hertfordshire.

We are aware it is an ambitious film due to the nature of science fiction films so we need all the help we can get.

Why we need your support

Props -

We have a special effects team, who would help us get the bionic arms and leg ready for the main characters part. The materials needed to make these props are quite expensive and we don't want to cut down on the quality due to lack of funding.

Concept DesignConcept Design

This is a mock up of the design for the arm, the main body of the piece will mainly be built with silicone modeled on our actress which is then primed, painted and then glossed. As for the 'veins' this is being done with EL wire (colour tbc).

Location -

Most of the scenes will be shot in and around Hertfordshire. We need to refurbish multiple rooms to make it look and feel in a way that suits the story.

Equipment -
We are using the Canon EOS 1DC camera for a digital output captured by a Atomos Samurai Blade.

But with your help it will let us upgrade the visual quality of our film by hiring better equipment for lighting, set design and sound.

We would want this film to be our best work since it is our last project which we aim to showcase in the industry while making a career. This film is made for our final year project, for our BA (Hons) Film and TV Productions at University of Hertfordshire.

Our main risk is not getting the required budget to tell this story the way it should be told. So the main focus will be towards the emotional journey of the characters rather than focusing too much on the technicalities of the bionics, keeping the costs down.

Festivals -

We are aiming that the film would be of high standard, not only digitally but content wise, and to make it reach to a wider audience we would need money for applying to various film festivals not only in UK but also in Norway.

We have some amazing gifts for all those that help our project. Please take some time to have a look at the items up for grabs before donating as we wouldn't want you to miss out! (Some of them are limited!)
