This gadget will revolutionize the way we use our smart devices in our everyday lives.

About this project

Smart devices are meant to keep you connected while you're away. Still we find ourselves using them more often at home. If you are like me then you probably use it while in bed watching a movie, surfing the net or just about anything your smart device can throw at you, and you must've had alot of sore and cramped up arms, back, neck and shoulders etc....you get the picture. All from trying to hold your device in your hand while maneuvering to get into a comfortable position, all that and you're still trying to balance your devices without it falling out of your hand.

Needless to say, I couldn't stand it any longer. So I created the "SmartArm" a gadget that you attach your device to that'll make you handfree. It's an arm that has 2 sections and it articulates at 5 different points, 1 at the base, 1 between both arm sections and 3 at the coupling point, so that no matter what position or angle you are in, the SmartArm can adapt to fit you. No more aches and pains, no more dropping your device/s , basically no more frustrations. It can be mounted to the headboard of your bed using the clamp that will be included. It can also be mounted to the wall or window seal.

I've also used it in the kitchen. I keep all my recipes on my tablet and found it alot easier to use with my SmartArm. I just attach it to the underside of the cabinet and away I go. It free's up much needed counter space and is out of the way. I've also used it in the garage while working on my vehicles. It can be mounted directly to your car using the magnetic base which will also be included.

I am working on 2 models. The basic model-SA ver.1 is the SmartArm with 2 bases included, (the clamp and magnetic base) and an upgraded SA ver.2 which will have speakers with a 3mm jack and a mini USB charging port.

I will be working with a USA engineering company to design the final product and will be outsourcing the production to the East to keep our cost to a minimum and our product affordable while maintaining a quality product.

Risks and challenges

I'll be working closely with our engineer and manufacturer over the next few months to ensure that the engineering and production method will be an optimal fit for our SmartArm and that our delivery dates are accurately represented.

Everything from the manufacturing of the SmartArm, to the materials used, will be produced in both the United States and Asia. In this way, we can keep a firm handle on the engineering aspects of the overall design and maintain the highest level of quality possible while keeping production cost to a minimum.

It’s taken us a while to get a prototype ready that we were more than please with and felt confidant to move on to the next process and it hasn’t been without challenges. We’ve researched and tested the SmartArm for weight, size and manufacturability.

Additionally, we’ve worked to understand every cost of the supply chain, from engineering, to manufacturing and shipping of the SmartArm . If we reach our goal of $600,000, we can confidently afford to produce and ship each and every piece of SmartArm ordered.

It’s been a wild and exciting experience so far and we’d be honored for you to be a part of it.
