I started complaining about back and abdominal pain last month, and i noticed a sharp decline in my appetite. My family was worried what might be the cause, On 3rd feb,2015 I woke up with a severe abdominal pain, this pain became more severe within the next three days. On 6th Feb,2015 I decided to go for a check up, at the Kenyatta national hospital but I became weak en weak as I was on the queue waiting for my turn to be served I was rushed to the Emergency Room on that day by medical attendants who by looking at me saw the pain I was going through since my cheeks were soaked up with tears. They eased my pain by administering some strong injection painkillers and they started running several tests. The doctors detected a tumor on my pancreas and liver. Suspecting that it was pancreatic cancer, they transferred me to a hospital to complete a biopsy. The biopsy results confirmed the tumors were cancerous, and I was diagnosed with an advanced stage of liver cancer – Hepatocellular Carcinoma.
The tumors have spread all over my liver and lymph nodes. This makes it difficult for me to be eligible for a liver transplant, or any type of surgery to remove the tumors. The only solutions available to prolong my life are chemotherapy and radiation, along with the power of prayer. Despite this ill-fated news, My spirits have remained high, and my positivity is a beacon of hope for our family.
At 29 years old, I have never experienced any health complications i was advised to begin chemotherapy and radiation as soon as possible. My treatment and rehabilitation will take anywhere between 8 months to a year. along with the physical pain, the treatment and disease has began to take a toll on my daily functions. The medications have been is prescribed to use meanwhile have not subsided the severe pain i experience on a daily basis. Am either in constant pain, or sedated. as I give out this story am in pain and only God knows when it shall get off
Am not be able to work to support my family and parents physically or financially. Although i currently have health insurance, it restricts me to only be treated at local hospitals. Texas Cancer Center-Nairobi Kenya is one of the best available cancer treatment centers, but it does not accept my health insurance. Our goal as a family is to raise enough money to enable my treatment at the Texas Cancer Center-Nairobi Kenya
Please help us as a family to reach this goal - for me to receive the best treatment that can prolong my life, so that I may be a part of my family’s life
