Expectant parents, families, and friends deserve something much more taking care of baby needs.

Short Summary

My name is Ray and I live in Montreal, Canada. I work in the financial services industry and I am passionate about internet technology. I also have a strong background in sales and business development. One of my major achievements in online technology is Key4IT, a virtual trade show for software companies, where I was involved in content and back office management. My educational background is sociology, international development and communication (media).
Our online baby store has been our minimum viable product (MVP) for the past couple of months. We have used a lean start-up business model (the process of idea generation, prototyping, presentation, data collection, analysis and learning) to develop our e-commerce website.
The world will always have problems and businesses exist to solve those problems. Back in 2000, the cost of starting an online business was about $5 million. In our era, things have changed dramatically. We are passionate about helping families address their child care needs. The reason why we started this campaign is to enable us launch an e-commerce baby store with a community-based business model. We love technology and we want to create the first community-based baby e-store in the world. It is a fact that more than 90% of parents and family members need help in terms of getting affordable baby supplies. We want to connect with them and understand what their needs are in a bid to provide sustainable solutions.

What We Need

The overall objective of this campaign is to raise CAD$50,000 to give a massive boost to the online baby store  Competing with the likes of Babies R Us, Amazon, and Wal Mart is a challenge that we welcome. It is good for the economy by creating jobs while also supporting other companies through purchasing products and forming partnerships. The funds raised will be used for hiring, enhancing web security, further developing the user interface and architecture, search engine optimization (SE0), innovative payment processing, and building a robust supply chain network. We would source our products locally and internationally as well. For now, we are using word-of-mouth marketing (WOMM) and social media as our primary marketing tools. Regarding our value proposition, we offer a community-based business model for e-commerce. We are different from our competitors because of our niche market and because we are changing the way the baby market works. We would also run a baby care and demand forecasting service called Smart Baby (SB) to help parents effectively manage childcare costs and monitor child development. This would significantly add more value to child care. We also aim to provide free delivery for our clients following a phone or online order. Billionaire Mark Cuban says it is foolish to get a loan for a new start-up. We turned to crowdfunding because it is a viable alternate financing vehicle compared to financing from venture capitalists (like on Shark Tank and Dragons Den). The crowdfunding industry is worth $US 16.6 billion today. That's the power of social capital. A donation of any amount from you would be well appreciated. There are perks available as well. Thank you for your support!

The Impact is a start-up community-based online retailer of bestselling baby products. Our vision is “making parents happy.” To stand out, we are providing an interactive retail experience for our clients. Our innovation stems  from the fact that we provide a personalized service for each family that does business with us. It is not just about online shopping. We know parents are value-conscious and time-starved, so we want to be able to provide that personalized service.

This project is valuable because part of our long-term strategy is to take this business globally to create jobs and create a better society in which parents raise children with joy. We will be targeting emerging markets in the future.

As part of our corporate social responsibility plan, we will be donating new and used baby products and supplies to families in need.

    Risks & Challenges

The main challenge is funding. However, this is no excuse. We have thoroughly done our research and our target customers think it is a good concept. Our role is to commercialize the business idea into a successful venture.
