About this project

Bronxton Wallets: Minimalistic, Functional, and Fashionable

Ever since the invention of paper money in the 1600s prompted the development of the wallet, men have been in search of a way to carry their essentials in slimmer, lightweight, but secure wallets. For four hundred years, wallet designers have strived to balance design, functionality, and sleekness. The invention of the credit card in the 1950s gave rise to the modern wallet with its multiple slots to carry cards. Until 1996, wallets remained unchanged until the development of the first evolutionary bi-fold wallet, which reduced the bulkiness of its predecessors by nearly half its size. Many wallets have numerous pockets that are great for storing necessary items, but can also allow people to accumulate a lot of junk very quickly.

Here at Bronxton Designs, we eliminate clunkiness by creating wallets that are minimalistic, fashionable and, most importantly, functional—and we do so in a range of styles. Our focus: design accessories that help you carry all daily essentials in true minimalist style. We develop two types of leather wallets: the “1222 Rule” wallets and the Stasher wallets. The 1222 Rule wallets carry the recommended essentials: one ID, two credit cards, two insurance cards (car and health), and two $20-dollar bills for emergencies. The Stasher wallets are for people who prefer or need to carry more than the essentials.

With all our wallets we never rush, taking time to carefully design each wallet with our vision in mind. Using only the best materials, our products are designed and handcrafted from beginning to end in Park CityUtah, under our control. We have been successfully funded three times on Kickstarter since we fired up in 2014. With the help of our backers, we were able to purchase all the tools required to produce our wallets. Having our own tools allows us to keepeverything in house from design to fulfillment. To expand our brand with new product lines, we need more tools for the job. That’s where backers like you come in. Your pledges make it possible for us to get the equipment we need to grow our company with new, innovative products and to create and keep jobs in the United States.

A Brief Understanding of Your Leather

When purchasing a wallet or any other leather article it is important to understand what you are paying for; many companies sell genuine leather for the price of full grain. We use the only leather good enough for our wallets: full grain leather. The leather we use comes from thebest tannery in the world, Horween, which has supplied quality leather hides for over 110 years.

Full grain leather comes from the top layer of the hide, which has ALL of the grain, therefore, FULL grain. The natural surface of full grain leather burnishes and beautifies with use. Full-grain leather refers to hides that have not been sanded, buffed, or snuffed to remove imperfections or natural marks on the surface of the hide. This means each wallet will be naturally uniqueNo two wallets are alike! The grain remains, giving the fiber strength and durability. The grain also has breathability, resulting in less moisture from prolonged contact. Rather than wearing out, it will develop a patina over time. That means your wallet will wear beautifully and it will actually look better as it ages! This might be the last wallet you will ever need since it will last for many, many years to come.

Top grain leather, the second grade of leather, is a split from the top layer of blemished hide, then sanded and refinished. This is how manufacturers get rid of scars and scrapes and light cow brands. Top grain leather does not age nicely with use.

Genuine leather, the third grade of leather, is produced from the layers of hide that remain after the top is split off for the better grades. The surface is usually refinished (spray painted) to resemble a higher grade.

Our Wallets: We have One for You

We create all our wallets with careful design and craftsmanship; there’s one for you in our line-up. The 1222 Rule wallets include the Entry and the Prospect; the Stasher Wallets include the Briber, Tri-fold and Main Street.

The Entry

Even when filled with cards and cash, this wallet is so comfortable, that you won’t feel it in your front or back pocket. The Entry is perfect for going out at night, walking long distances, simplifying your life, and carrying the absolute bare minimum. Though The Entry is minimalistic and affordable, we kept the elegance and quality of well-designed wallet made with Horween leather.

The EntryThe Entry

At $25 ($20 for early backers) The Entry is the most affordable, minimalistic, handcrafted, full grain leather wallet you’ll find. While we managed to make it very inexpensive, we did not cut any corners. The main difference from other wallets in our line is that The Entry is not hand-stitched; it is laser-cut, engraved, and machine sewn. Thanks to the backers of the previous project, we were able to buy a sewing machine!

Engraving

We recommend that engraving be placed in the front/back right corner on the bottom of the wallet; however, during the survey process, you will be given the opportunity to add notes and can request a different placement for your engraving. The engraving size varies with the word or initials that you request; we will ensure that it is proportional with the size of the wallet.

RFID Protection:

What is it? Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a system that transmits the identity (in the form of a unique serial number) of an object or person wirelessly, using radio waves.

Almost all of our wallets now come with optional RFID protection! Most banks and credit card companies have been moving away from swipe card technology and issuing RFID-enabled cards and many places in Europe even have them embedded in personal identification documents.

The RFID Problem.

Unfortunately hackers and others use technologies that can pickpocket that information from you without ever touching your wallet! Sometimes from several yards away! To keep your information safe, our optional RFID protection is made with 2 layers of anti-RFID materials that ensure no access to the information stored in your credit cards and documents. And as you can see in the video it works every time!

Past PR and Blog Coverage:

What's next?

We’re developing multiple product lines, but for now we are focused on wallets because we have been testing them rigorously. To ensure our products meet our quality standards, we are releasing products in the order they have been created and properly tested. We hope to release another line of leather products within a few months, but we will not announce these product launches until the new products have passed our rigorous testing.

.

FEEDBACK

We value feedback, both positive and negative. Positive feedback gives us assurance that our processes are in place and our creativity is producing products that are wanted. Negative feedback gives us the chance to remain humble and improve in areas where we need to. Check out what people are saying about us and the quality of our products. Risks and challenges

If our entire team gets hit by the same garbage truck, we will not be able to deliver the pledges and you should apply for a refund! Nah, just kidding: we are all terrified of buses and trucks and stay as far away from them as possible.
The only real risks are delays that may be caused if the tannery is out of our leather. It has not happened yet, but if it did, it would delay the project by almost four weeks. We stock a lot of leather in anticipation of projected production and order demands; so as soon as we obtain our project funding, off to work we go, crafting and shipping wallets.
